What they do

BUDJI+ROYAL Architecture+Design is the "total design" house of modern-Filipino luxury, bringing architecture, interiors, furniture and landscape together under one roof and built on locally sourced materials suited to the tropics.

The Bonifacio Global City practice was founded in 2001 by designer Budji Layug and architect Royal Pineda, who trained in the studio of National Artist Leandro V. Locsin. Pineda's "practical luxury" philosophy, coined in 2010, frames the work as luxury by design at a reasonable cost, built from Filipino materials and craft.

Beyond its houses, the firm's civic portfolio carries the New Clark City Sports Hub, Clark International Airport Terminal 2 and Bangkota, the Philippine Pavilion at Expo 2020 Dubai; Royal Pineda received the Global Filipino Architect Award in 2025. Landscape is one of the firm's integrated in-house disciplines, woven through its residences as pocket gardens and planted thresholds.
