Jorge Yulo Architects & Associates

Jorge Yulo Architects & Associates (JYAA) was founded in 1995 by principal architect Jorge Manuel B. Yulo and is based in Makati. Yulo began his career in New York at Cabrera/Barricklo Architects, earned a Master of Architecture from Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute, and worked at the office of National Artist Leandro V. Locsin in Manila before opening his own practice. JYAA presents itself as a multidisciplinary collective of architects, artists and technical consultants, with a culture it describes as one of "experimentation, creativity, and experientiality."

Over nearly three decades the firm reports completing a few hundred projects, from high-rises to luxury residences, and it expanded its interior design arm during the 1997 Asian Financial Crisis; interiors and a sculptural furniture line, Sintesi, now sit alongside its architecture. Recognized works include the Equilateral House, the Reincarnated Villa and the Mecha Uma restaurant.

Its best-known project is the Hacienda Sta. Elena Community House in Santa Rosa, Laguna, the recreational amenity for the Hacienda Sta. Elena enclave (sources date its completion to the mid-2010s). The grounds are organized around four mature mango trees that Yulo treated as the place-giving elements, distributing slatted concrete-and-steel pavilions so the existing landscape stays the central feature; the project earned an Architecture MasterPrize 2024 Honorable Mention.
